Texas Tech University Student Housing
Flu, H1N1 Flu, and Illness Response
The health and wellness of students living on campus is very important to University Student Housing. Community living provides numerous benefits for students as they pursue their academic success; however, close quarters can contribute to the spread of contagious illnesses. Indicators suggest the flu season this year will be challenging.
- University Student Housing will work with our staff, students, and student groups to educate our population about current illnesses and what prevents their spread
- The Department will work to assist students in receiving health care and services to help them overcome a temporary illness
- Housing staff will be cleaning and sanitizing common areas of the residence halls seven days a week
Illness prevention:
- Wash hands frequently; use hand sanitizer
- Have good cough/sneeze etiquette; use tissues
- Keep your hands away from your face and mouth
- Maintain a clean living environment, sanitize surfaces
- Do not share eating utensils or drinks
